Have you ever wondered what makes someone a true hero? Well if you haven't I strongly recommend pondering that. Because when I did it made me realize that heroes, aren't just from fairy tales. They aren't just really hot guys that got bitten by radioactive spiders or made into the ultimate human weapon or even the one that got a nuclear heart transplant to keep shrapnel imbedded in his chest from killing him. True heroes don't exist solely for the entertainment of others. Sometimes real life heroes don't even get to the "Happily Ever After" part in the story. Sometimes, their stories end. They get cut short.
If I had to define a real life hero I guess they have a lot of the same qualities as the comic book ones. Real life heroes are the people that run into burning buildings. The ones that chase the robber down the street, the ones that save the kid from the abusing, alcoholic parents. They are the people that jump in front of the moving car to push someone out of the way. They take a bullet for a stranger. However, something that separates them from the comic books is that these heroes hardly ever get recognition. They go un-named, un-noticed, and un-rewarded. These are the people I admire the most! People like firefighters, policemen, soldiers, and even the occasional linemen. We put so much stock in the whole " no good deed goes unpunished" thing. That we don't even see them when they happen anymore! We are so focused in on all the bad. That when good things happen it's almost like we can't except it. So thats what I'll leave you with. Remember to except the good. To see your real life heroes and embrace them. Say please and thank you to the lunch ladies because even if the food wasn't all that great they didn't actually poison you. Wave to the mail man. High-five the dry cleaner. Because real life heroes are alway there when you need them.

Hello world! This is my very first blog post! I'm super excited to be doing this and can't wait to learn all of the in's and out's of this. So, as you can tell by the title of this post I have a story to share. What did lead me here? You might want to get comfy. ;)
Just a little back story for you about myself. Since I was little I have always had trouble expressing myself in a, shall we say "productive" manner. I have a tendency to internalize a lot of my thoughts and emotions and not expressing my true opinions or feelings. I began to notice as I went through school that I didn't seem to have the same trouble on paper. That was/is the place where I seem to be able to accurately vocalize myself. As I grew up and got more involved on social media it was the same. I was able to connect with people in a way that I wasn't able to in person. I know what your thinking, typical millennial, hiding behind a screen. But to me it was more than that! Through all of these mediums I was able to build my confidence. This lead me to where I am now. An opinionated, sarcastic, driven individual. I'm not entirely certain that I would be the same person I am now, without having made this discovery. Anyway, back to what lead me here. As I changed, and well, the world changed I saw things happening all around me that just didn't set quite right with me. All the negativity. Especially around the election. Yes the infamous election of 2016. This was where mine and well everyone else around the world found their true voice. With all that negativity I began to re-evaluate myself. Did I really want to follow the status quo? It is so easy to find the bad in life, but what if you start looking for the good. Now thats a tall order! Which leads me too... Instagram! Yes, I know. More social media. But it's true, this is what lead me here, to this, to you. Whoever you are. From whatever walk of life, from whatever ethnicity, gender, religious belief, or denomination. You reading this right now is why I chose to do this! To be able to reach out to people and touch their lives is truly amazing to me. On my Instagram account, I began posting "Words of Wisdom". Just a little something to help everyone start there day off right. I post one a day, and people seem to really enjoy them. But I felt like I could do more. So here I am. This will be my new outlet. My new way to reach others and to hopefully inspire them to voice their opinions. Because after all we are all really on this crazy ride called Life, together. |
