As I sit here writing this, I have Amoxicillin coursing through my veins. I spent the last week doing basically nothing as my respiratory infection left me tired, in pain, and struggling to breathe. In those boring yet healing 5 days, I mastered what it is that I needed to do to feel better. So, here are 5 tips to help you get through your sickness packed days. Tip #1: Rest. By rest, I don't mean just staying home and doing your laundry or cleaning. I say sit down and wait there. Your body needs the rest more than you think. Tip #2: Hydrate. In my battle with illness, I drank 1 gallon of water every day. That's right, I said a gallon. Your body is 60% water and needs every bit of water you can give it, especially when you're sick. In fact, your lungs alone are 83% water, and lord knows my lungs were taking a hit. Tip #3: Medicate. Whether or not you believe in the use of western medicine, you can do this. Personally, I took over the counter medication and then my prescription once I went to the doctor. You could also try essential oils, acupuncture, and herbal remedies. Tip #4: Eat. I'm one of those people that tends not to eat anything when they don't feel well. This is not ideal for many reasons. Most importantly because your body needs fuel to fight off disease. Tip #5: Sleep. Nothing feels better when you're sick than taking an accidental 3-hour nap that you didn't know you needed. Trouble is you do this because your body absolutely needed it. So, there you have it-- Hunter's Guide to Surviving Sickness. No matter what the illness, your body needs to refresh and reset. XOXO, Hunter
